Default Si fuel economy

Sorry if it's been posted... I did try searching but came a little short.

Just curious as to what you guys are getting as fuel economy in either the FG2 or FA5 Si's.

I just purchased an FA5 and was wondering if I was going to get better mileage then my EP3.

ok wasn't sure if it was highway cruising... I know a lot depends of how many times you hit the VTEC... but normal cruising fuel economy is what I'm looking for.

Thanks bud!

I would imagine the 6th gear would be the cruising gear, and if you wanted to give it some "oomph" drop it down to 5th and give it the beans.

Vtec cross over is not the biggest determinant of you fuel economy. You can hit it all you want and get decent numbers. WOT to reduce pumping losses, short shifting, and a steady foot are helpful.

To answer you question Dave, 25 mpg (60/40 city/hwy).

Usually get 28 70/30 hwy/cty while cruising around 71-73 in 6th gear in my fa5. Had a 07 lx too at 60k was putting out bout the same with no idea why.

When I had my 06 si, I got 30 in town most of my driving is in town, but every now and then I did have to take a few trips down the turn pike, on those I got 35.

I mostly short shift get into 6th as fast as I can, I drive my corvette the same way I'm getting 23 city and 29 hwy with that c5 6 speed.

I loved driving the used 100mi si way more than the new 07 5 speed I had before it.

I just took my 08 SI sedan (fa5), from St louis to Atlanta. I put it on cruse control at 74 mph and got 34.4 mpg. Coming back, from Atlanta I got 35.1 mpg.
When I filled up, I put gas in until I saw gas at the top of the filler tube (each time I filled up). 93 octane.

And I finally turned past 10,000 miles, on the odometer.

I average 28 city and 31/32 highway, even after all the mods I'm still getting good mileage.

usually around 28 mpg mixed 50/50 driving. highway to cali I got about 33mpg with 70-73 mph cruise control which kills gas mileage above 60mph

I found out i get better gas mileage by revving higher between shifts around 3-4 k with plenty of vtec too.

my non vtec tank yielded 26 mpg

Been driving my '11 sedan since October and, outside of the first tank full from the dealer (which I strongly suspect was 87 octane and netted me 26 mpg) I've never been below 29 with mine. Driving is probably 60/40 hwy/city and I try to keep driving smooth, ie no jack rabbit starts, smooth thru the shifts, etc.. After installing my Injen I've seen my summer mileage jump to as high as just shy of 36 mpg hwy on fam vaca, 34.5 usual mix of hwy/city.

I'm on my third tank of fuel on the 12 si now, the first and second tanks with a good 50/50 mix of highway and city driving, got me 34 mpg on 91(mid grade) shell.

The instant fuel meter in the car is almost right on in the calculation of MPG, I still use the old pencil and paper method of gallons purchased and miles driven.

I always fill the tank completely, right up the neck to where I can see it so I know exactly ow much I put in.

I still don't like the look of the car, but I like the way it runs and I like the fuel mileage.

I used to drive a quite a few '06 - '11 Si's when I worked for Honda. They're geared low enough that if traffic is moving smoothly at 60 - 70km/h you can drive around town in 6th.

EP3 got worst mileage then my FA5 period... I went to Toronto for the weekend and I did 365 km on half a tank! My EP3 did last year only 295 km on half a tank. EP3 is a nice car but no way does it even compare to the FA5 and I owned one for 4 years!
