Auto to manual transmission swap?
Is an automatic to manual transmission swap expensive? Can it be done on a newer cvic 06 ex? I've been doing all these things to the engine and realized that this conversion would make driving alot funner

I think in the long run, it would be better if you just traded it in. THat's cool if you can pull it off, but my boy did a auto to manual swap in his 94 DC2 and it cost him 2 g's. Well he also got a JDM ITR tranny
good luck with your decision

if they're only bolt ons, take them off and put the stock parts back on...

It's not worth it man. I'm no mechanic so I can't say specifically, but a manual car (other than the tranny) is most likely built a lil differently than an auto. What I'm saying is even putting a manual tranny into the car.. won't make it like the manual was supposed to be built.
And realistically, I think 2k for parts and installation would be a realllly good price. My friend tried doing a manual swap into his Eagle TSI and $1700 later, gave up. It is an expensive thing to do, when it can be avoided just turning in the car for a diff one.
And maybe this time.. SI Then all the motor-work is done for you as well.

That probably means you don't have enough for the swap.

are you serious...it looks like in your other thread you just put an intake and exhaust on your car...it will take you about an hour or two to take those bolt ons off and put them on a new car...it isnt worth it at all to switch from auto to manual...you should have thought about this before you bought a new car

Re: Auto to manual transmission swap? (faster Type R)
thing is i just bought pulleys for it and it would just be a total of like 850 spent on parts for it. Plus when i installed my intake i broke the old one because it was pretty difficult to remove the old one. My interior has alot of burn marks cuz my idiot friends decide to be careless holding their cigarettes. When i think about it trading in the car might actually be a bad idea because of all the damage to it.

tranny swap would involve...
-pedal assembly
-clutch master and slave cylinder assemblies
-tranny and clutch
-axles maybe?
-ECU for sure
-I'm sure various other little details
You are better off taking a loss at the dealership and driving away with a 5 speed with no burns in the interior to start over with... $850 in parts isn't that big of a deal compared to the thousands spent on a tranny conversion... Even if you got the parts for let's say 3k for the conversion (newer car than the DC swap that was 2k in the earlier post) Labor isn't cheap for stuff like that (you don't exactly seem like the do it yourself type tearing up your stock intake) For that much money (parts+labor), you can take a few thousand dollar loss trading in and come out on top.

Re: Auto to manual transmission swap?
All of you guys suck. I bought everything I need to do an auto to manual swap for 800. I'm gonna swap it out myself this weekend. Its not hard just time consuming. All of you who keep saying everything else except what he asked, shut up. If he wants to swap trannys then let him do it. Try being helpful for once. Hey slynx I'll inventory my stuff and I'll let you know what you need. PM me if you have questions and what nots.
