Hey,

I just joined today in hopes of shedding some light on the what could be wrong with the car I bought less than a month ago. I picked up the car with 59,000KM (37,000 miles) on it. It's a 2012 Civic EX coupe with a manual transmission. Anyways, over the course of the month its no-started on me six times. When I turn the key absolutely nothing happens. Electronics go blank and it doesn't even try to turn over. As soon as I let go of the key, the dash goes wild and starts making this crazy ticking noise that sounds like it's coming from the left of the steering wheel in the dash. Sometimes when the dash is glitching out (when I'm not turning the key) the interior lights will come on and HVAC/radio. However, as soon as I try cranking again, it all cuts out. All of this being said, I'll come outside the next day about to call a tow truck, trying it one more time just for fun and the thing starts first try. This always happens whenever I just leave it for a day. I brought it to a dealer who said they couldn't find anything wrong. Even the battery tests were great. On top of that, there are zero lights showing on the dash or IMID.

Attached are two videos. Again, whenever I try and start the car, everything goes blank. As soon as i let go of the key, the light show and ticking starts. My hand is on the key in one of the videos while the lights are going off, but I'm not trying to start it.

Sounds like a bad relay. Does it have an aftermarket alarm ? Did you show that video to dealership ?

Nope, it has no aftermarket accessories that I know of! And I will be showing it to them when I take it in on Monday. The first time I brought it in I didn't have video footage but I certainly will be this time.

Took it to the dealer and the master tech said he had possibly seen something like it before. They ordered a new fuse box, relays, etc. It really only happens every few weeks and it happened last night. They had asked me at the dealer if there were any warning signs before it would happen to which I replied "no", but last night i noticed something that had happened beforehand. Whenever I would lift my foot from the clutch leaving first gear, the radio would fade out then back on again. You could do it over and over again if you wanted. Then when you would turn the car off and try to start it again - what would happen in the videos would happen - a no start. So strange.
