Default 2007 Civic LX

Good morning everyone! Long story short (I posted in the previous gen forum). I picked up a 05 Civic Coupe that has a bad head gasket about a month ago. After a few days of no heat I brought it back to the dealership who was nice enough to find me a different car. I'm looking at spending a little more money to get something that is a little newer with a few less miles. They have a 07 Civic Coupe LX with 160,000 miles on it, 5 speed. I really liked my 96 Accord, it was a great car with basically zero major issues with it. I left the Hondas a while back as I needed a SUV to pull things. I now need a good car for commuting. Nothing seems to rival the gas mileage of the Civics, but with the head gasket issues of the previous gen, I'm fairly nervous about purchasing another.

TLDR: What kind of issues does this year Civic have, especially in the higher miles? What kind of things would I be looking to have repaired or maintained in the coming years. I've been poking around and looking at different sites like carcomplaints.com (who says "Beware of the Clunker", so that's got me nervous). What do you all think?

Buying a high mileage car seems like a two-edged sword. On one hand, it's probably been relatively taken care of if it's lasted as long as it has. Hopefully having most of the "issues" pertaining to this model year resolved because the owner has had to live with it for so long. On the other hand, it's in really good condition, why are they giving it up, you know?

Thanks!

The only major issue with the R18 engines from that era was the block cracking at the back. If your car has high mileage, I would presume it hasn't been subject to the cracking. The dealership would have the VIN range that the cracking was indent ivied in and should be able to tell you if that car is in the range. Other than that, I couldn't tell you.

Thank you for the reply. I'm thinking along the same lines as you are. Unfortunately, I don't think it's going to work out. I don't think they're willing to go as low as I need them to be.
