2005 Honda Civic Ex special edition
-automatic
-180xxx
-new transmission

Problem : when i put my car in reverse from Park. It makes a loud *thunk* noise.
Doesn't make the noise when i put it in reverse from drive or Neutral only park.

P.S
I got this car 4 days ago. Dealer said they put in a new transmission the day i got it.

Can anybody please help and explain why it does this ?
& what i can do to fix the problem?

yea, I would take it back and tell them the issues. Is it under any kind or warrantee?

Yea i have a 30 day warrantee on it.

Take it back...The guy couldn't have even road tested it after he was done.Sounds like a mount noise..

YESSS ! mostly my car faces downhill . .I figured thats what it could of been , just wanted to know if others experienced this or what they thought. Just never thought it was normal.

The weight of your car is sitting on the park pin. do yourself a favor, set your park brake, release your brake pedal,(so the weight sits on the park brake) and then shift to park. voila! no more thunk! and no more killin your motor mounts.

Mike_1212 is exactly right -get that e-brake tightened up if it feels 'loose', you'll do your tranny a favor and quite possibly the other cars and pedestrians on the hill
