Default Surging idle searched help before I lose it :-p

I have a 2001 Honda civic ex just replaced the engine. After 200 miles I ended getting a surge after warm up. I cleaned IACV , replaced throttle body and intake gasket, cleaned throttle body and egr, new thermostat PCV valve and coolant temp sensor, checked for vacuum leaks, bled coolant system. Did relearn idle procedure multiple times. Had an extra IACV didn't make a difference. It runs mint until warm up and the surges and drops back down to 800rpm and surges a little bit HELP :-/

If its surging when you've got your foot on the brake, you've got either a vacuum leak in the booster or in the vacuum lines.

Theres only the one vacuum line that goes to the intake manifold right? I replaced that and inspected all other hoses.

Correct. Have you tried taking off the portion of the hose that connects to the brake booster, then clamping the end to ensure that its closed? That'll tell you if there's a leak in the brake booster.

I had the same problem BUT.
Did you try adjusting TPS?
That fix my idle because the tps is very sensative and the slightest nudge/movement can cause rough idle, low idle, high idle etc.

There should be DIY for TPS.

Tried blocking the vacuum hose ... Didn't change any. I noticed when I press the throttle it gets more surge to it.. When pressing the brake with no vacuum hose idle surges the same hmmm..

Will the TPS cause a surging idle though??

I had another throttle body laying around even out that one on with no changes in how it is acting. I also swapped my intake manifold. Really at a loss right now this has me stumped!!!

Man it sucks to have a vacuum problem. Did you put a vacuum gauge on it? Also check all vacuum switches with a hand held vacuum tester to make sure they don't bleed down.

Try removing and capping each vacuum circuit to the manifold one by one while it's running. When you find no change remove the cap and reconnect the line and do the next one. When you see a change (the surging stops) check every valve, connection and line (Rubber & Metal) on that vacuum circuit.

If you don't find a bad vacuum circuit try spraying WD40 on all gasket connection on the intake manifold. if the surge stops while spraying an area replace that gasket.

Good luck

So after trying everything you could think of i remembered hearing of the same surging idle problem in the honda minivans and with those it was 9 times out of 10 the power steering pressure switch. I unplugged mine and the car runs mint. The power steering just doesnt work as well. I am replacing the switch today.

Bought the car with a bad motor the guy never changed the oil and ran it down to less than a quart was seized. I actually freed it up but then threw a rod right through the oil pan
