Default Replace thermal protector on AC compressor

The thermal protector in my 2003 Civic stopped working after the freon leaked out. After fixing the leak and filling it, I shorted the two wires to the thermal protector so I would have AC for a weekend trip.

So, would you replace the thermal protector if it costs around $60 and a couple hours of labor? I'm currently thinking not, as the compressor has 95,000 miles on it. It looks like a new compressor is around $300 and it comes with a new thermal protector.

What do you think?

If there is nothing wrong with your compressor and your a/c works fine I wouldn't spend the money, especially if you plan on installing a aftermarket compressor. The compressors on those cars haven't given too much trouble.
