Shorted Dome Light Circuit
So I was working on some custom lighting last night that taps into the "DOOR" circuit of the dome light. IE: The green/red wire coming down the driver's side A-pillar.
Anyway, I accidentally shorted some wires (oops) and everything on that circuit shut off. "No problem", I think, "I'll just replace the fuse and get back to work."
After an hour of consulting the manual and searching every forum I can think of, I gave up and put the car back together. I've checked every conceivalbe fuse connected to that circuit. I know that my actual dome light still works because it comes on if I switch it to the "ON" position. As far as I can tell, my Multiplex Control Unit Thingy still works because keyless entry still works, and all the annoying noisemaker functions (headlights on, no seatbelt) still work.
At this point I have no clue what was damaged in the short, and why all my fuses are still intact. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if there is any more information I can provide or tests I can run to further diagnose the problem.
Peace.

Re: Shorted Dome Light Circuit
my dome light and map lights have been shorted out for the past year or so...
not sure how it happened, but the headliner must have cut into the wires insulation or something and caused all 3 wires to touch. It's an easy fix.. I'm just lazy....
So maybe check behind the driver side A pillar at the headliner. that's where mine is, anyway....
edit: oops just realized this is a suuuuuuuuuuper old thread...

Re: Shorted Dome Light Circuit
1. With the battery disconnected, pull 12P connector "O" from the under-dash fuse/relay box (MCU). I included a pic of the connector diagram below. I don't know whether it's on the front or back, and I'm not gonna check as it's 1am. lol.
2. Check for continuity (ohms) of the GRN/RD wire from that connector to the other end at the dome light.
If you don't have continuity then move one probe to the spot you tapped into the wire and check for continuity, and so on until you've found the short. This is how you narrow down where the short is.
If you have continuity then you fried that part of the MCU without throwing a code and need to replace it. Go here for a salvage one and hope it works: http://www.car-part.com/ or get a new one here: http://www.hondapartscheap.com/southbay/jsp/home.jsp or go sign over a paycheck to the dealer for one.
*2 NOTES*:
- As you've already probably figured out, be very careful when tapping wires going to the MCU or ECM/PCM.
- Always disconnect the battery when doing electrical work, that way you don't have to worry about problems like this.
Sorry about the fuzzy pic, really crappy phone cam.
