I have limited mechanical knowledge, I am posting this to confirm something. My son is working on a car he recently bought, a civic coup. He took off the engine head and put it on a small rug inside the basement. Someone else dragged the rug, causing the head to roll over 180 degrees. The exposed gears are now not turning. My son is upset that he is out a lot of money because the head was damaged when it rolled over; is this possible?

If the cam gear no longer rotates, then there definitely is some damage.

It would have to have done more than just roll over on a rug I would think to cause enough damage to not allow rotation. I would tell him to look that thing over with a fine tooth and make sure nothing got lodged (like a bolt or something) somewhere it should be, it should be fairly easy to see broke parts or a foreign object in a singe cam cylinder head

I have to agree that stuff is pretty tough and just rolling over will not damage it. Like CX2 said look for foreign objects.

Ditto both the above^^^ just rolling over should not damage the head, it would take a pretty good drop to damage/bend something. 94
