Jack Points
So I know the main jack/lift point to raise the car, but unfortunately I don't have the room to place the Hydraulic jack and jack stands in the same area.
While using a hydraulic jack to say raise the left side of the car, where is a good place to position a jack stand? Placing it anywhere along the running board of the car might leave a dent if the weight of the car is placed there.

Re: Jack Points
if possible, get a low profile jack that also has a faily high jacking height...most jacks can't lift the rear high enough to get the tires off of the ground...

Re: Jack Points
The hydraulic lift platform is 4" diameter. The jack location is about the same. I cant jack up the car and place the jack stand anywhere near the jack point. There is no room for it. I can maybe shove it under the engine frame, but thats a reach and requires me time to spend underneath the car with just the hydraulic jack holding it.
The jack I bought has a 21" lift, I can tip the car over at full height if I wanted too.
Looks like going from the front is the only way

Re: Jack Points
why are you jacking the car up? tires? suspension work?
if just tires and or oil change position the jack uner the lower control arm.
if your working on suspension position jack on subframe structure (behind front tire towards middle of vehicle

just a little clarification...the civic has six jacking points...there are two on each side of the car. there's also one at the front+center of the car and another at the rear+center...
jack the car up using the ones located at the center of the car then put the jack stands at the jacking points located at the side of the car.

Re: Jack Points
There is a jack location on the front subframe (like skip said), about a foot in from the center of the front bumper. Lift it with the hydraulic jack there and place jack stands at the side.
The rear can be lifted from the tow hook, or I prefer placing a jack in the center of the rear subframe, between the lca mount points.
While not as secure, as the op has mentioned, you can place the jack near the side jack points along the seam. You area not supporting the car for very long at that location, just enough to position a jack. I've never had an issue. Place a wider piece of wood between the jack and the seam to help distribute weight if you are concerned.

Re: Jack Points
If you have to you can use the tow hooks to jack up your car but not on the end of the hook or you will bend it do it were the hook welds to the subframe if you do it then lower the car onto some wooden blocks or jack stands and then jack the car back up in the proper location.

Re: Jack Points
^ X3 with everyone else. Just don't make the mistake of jacking up on the radiator support there...i've heard bad stories. Personally, I just jack a little bit deeper into the car from where the side pinch welds are, under a part of the subfram that has metal overlapping metal with 2 bolts securing it. Probably not the safest point, but its always worked for me :]

Re: Jack Points
I used that jack point before with a crappy jack, I was a bit afraid cause it kinda slipped some as surface is flat.
I'll try that place again, this new jack I have is awesome

Re: Jack Points
Yeah, its awesome. I used it to lift my Conquest, had to jack it behind the oil pan, the jack was so far in the car that I had maybe 4 degrees to work with otherwise it was hitting the airfoil, after about 20 pumps, it started to lift.
my quest btw
