Default incorrect gear ratio wtf?

I got a check engine light code. it read , incorrect gear ratio. wtf does that mean, it sounds expensive. Heres my story.

I'm driving. and when i come to a red light. the positive terminal of the battery comes off because i forgot to tighten it. and car turns off. I put it back on feeling embarassed on the road.

Later on not too long after. around where vtec kicks in around the low gears my car shakes and wont move any faster. the fastest i can go is up to 3k rpms before my car freaks out....... it was a bitch to get home on the freeway everyone honking at me and ****.

Anyone know whats going on? could it be a tooth that chipped off? a bad sensor? low transmission fluid?

P0730 Incorrect gear ratio = the transmission is bad, in every case that I have seen.

'01-02 Civics are pretty notorious for automatic transmission failures.

Are you sure there weren't any other codes stored?

I didn't pay attention to it b4. but my rpms did fly up alot when i barely pressed the gas pedal. as if it freaked out and tryed to go faster but couldn't.

If the transmission is the case. What is the best course of action? Take it to a shop that does transmissions. or honda dealer?

When I first read that you couldnt go past 3k rpm, i initially thought limp mode. But rpms rising with no change in acceleration is indicative of a slipping trans for sure.

You have three options:
From most expensive to cheapest
1. Buy a new transmission from Honda and have it installed where you like
2. Get the transmission rebuilt and have it installed where you like
3. Buy a used transmission and have it installed where you like

most probably the tranny. The 01/02 civics have pretty bad auto tranny's. Get it checked out.

I am also having this problem my brakes on the front are siezing I guess and causing the car to stop every like 100 or so foot making the car stop and it will not move out of its tracks I have to get out and loosen the bleeder valve on both front brakes and then I'm able to get it to move again

I’ve heard of some element/crv owners having this issue where the VSA system applies brakes while driving. If yours has VSA too, could try removing that fuse to see if anything changes.
