Icon3 D17a swap from D17a1

-I'm working to swap a D17a into a D17a1 car. Can anyone give me reference material for this? If I strip the D17a to a bare block and put all the D17a1 components on will work? Can the ECU adjust for the difference?
-As I understand there is a difference in compression that comes from the head. This is the article that talks about the compression numbers. *note* this does not discuss the head.. but I've read some of the guys have swapped to the D17a head for power. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_D_engine#D17A
-Its been years since I've used this forum. Good to know its still going well.

The old motor blew a head gasket and had 212k. I am a professional technician. The boss chose a cost effective option (jdm d17a). He was advised it was a direct swap. I began the motor swap today. I should be most of the way through it by tomorrow afternoon. I have been advised the ECU can handle the difference in compression from 9.5 to 10.5. So we'll see how it goes. Seems like a new fuel map would be a better option (IE: correct ECU). But I have read others have done this job before ... so boss man said go to work. We could have a nice reliable honda soon.
It is intruiging and I will be noting fuel values and comparing them to my wife's D17a1 or 2 (not sure which it is atm) to see the difference. Any direction? Questions? Advise? Interesting things I should take note of other than fuel trim?

Wikipedia has a typographical error on it. They're not 10.5:1 compression, as they utilize the same crank, bore, connecting rods, and pistons as the US-counterparts. Also, even if it were a fraction of a point off of the compression ratio of the factory engine, the fact that it tunes for timing and fuel through the use of the secondary oxygen sensor... you'll still get it to run and idle.

As for your wife's car, is it an EX? If so, it has a D17A2 from the factory. If not, it will more than likely have a D17A1.

How did this swap go? Were there any issues? Currently looking to swap an a1 to a jam. Any advise/insight would be appreciated

It went poorly. I did not run as OEM designed. Very low torque, likely poor gas mileage. Needed a tune.
