CEL P0128, replaced thermostat, replaced ECT sensor, car cranks longer at start now
Hey everyone, while troubleshooting my CEL I came across this forum and it helped alot (thanks!), but now I need to make my own post to ask for specific support. FYI my car is a 2002 Honda civic sedan 1.7L.
Long story short, CEL came on (no other symptoms), reset it, came back on, checked the code, p0128, coolant system reading too cool, check online, replace the thermostat, reset CEL, light comes back on, google again, replace ECT sensor, reset CEL. (FYI, I don't have any analysis equipment so I was just replacing parts based on the statistics of what's the most likely cause)
The CEL has not come on again YET (usually take about 5 days of driving for me). But ever since I replaced the ECT sensor the car takes a noticeable amount of cranking to turn over. Before the new ECT sensor it started almost instantly, now it takes about a second. Once it turns over it runs fine.
Is this something I should worry about? Is my new sensor junk? Or is it possible I'm just used to the old ECT sensor telling the car to run rich, so it started up much easier?
Thank you in advance for your help!

Any other codes stored besides the P0128?
Refer to the attached TSB regarding a PCM update when getting the P0128 code. I would do this first before throwing parts at it. You may have just needed the update and nothing else.

No other codes, just p0128 with the CEL, no MIL. I wanted to try and avoid paying to have the PCM flashed. Is there any reason why it would take 14 years for the computers parameters to no long be correct and need an update?
