Default Bad starter or the relay?

Friends wifes car wont start, she says it clicks soon as she turns the key. Battery is fine so Im saying its the starter but a shop told her it could be the relay. How can I test to see which it could be?

Not enough information to guess. Is it a Honda?

What click? Once, or rapid repetative? How do you know the battery is OK? Cable connections clean and tight?

Does the engine crank? (I assume probably not.)

Sounds like a starter to me. It just clicks.... Sounds like a deadspot in the starter if the battery is good. I usually do the usual jump start to confirm that a good battery won't start the darn thing. Thing I get my long extension and heavy hammer and bang on the starter while someone else is trying to start the car. Just remember, the harder the blow, the more you knock the junk inside the starter around until it makes contact.

^ Uh no, its not the starter...

If this is a 01-02 Civic, I'm almost 100% sure that if its not the battery dead, you have bad grounds. So find all the grounds, clean the contacts with sandpaper/file, and you'll be good to go.
