Default Has anyone ever heard this sound coming out of their car before?

Honda civic EX 2003
What could this be? It sounds horrible

Sounds like a heat shield is loose. Possibly an engine mount, as well.

Could be one of the pulleys.

Your valves are chattering pretty hard, definitely need a valve adjustment.

it would be helpful if you would open the hood and record it again.
the mild ticking/clicking noise could be the fuel injectors which is normal.
the rattling noise could be the heat shield.

mine had a cracked manifold.. apparently its pretty common on these civics...

whelp. it could very well be the heat shield. but to me, it sounds like the latch/lever that you pull up when opening the hood. after i installed some motor mount inserts, my car makes that exact sound every now and then, at a certain RPM range (because of the stiffer mounts causing more vibration.).
