Default 2002 code P1259

hello,i just purchased a 2002 Honda civic EX.1.7L vtec, four cyl.automatic transmission with 101236 miles.it gives me a p1259 code.i had search this site and noticed some post about code p1259 but did not see any for 2002 civic.this car still drives despite the code, however sometimes it does a sudden idle up near 3000rpm while changing gear from 10mph to 20mph.now the oil label is good.i would like to know if i need to replace the oil pressure switch or the vtc solenoid?will extra motor oil than recommended cause this?
(i noticed that oil mark on the stick is a bit high)
can you tell me where is the oil pressure switch and where is the vtec valve and solenoid?if i replace these part,do i need to reset the computer?
i cleared the code with my diagnostic tool yesterday.today the code came back.
i will be thankful or any help .

Search + "vtec" =

There are more, but that should be a good starting point.

If the problem isn't the pressure switch or the solenoid, and replacing them doesn't make the problem go away, there's something else wrong and you'll need to troubleshoot the cause.

FYI: Regular cleaning of the solenoids isn't a bad idea.

I've started adding yearly cleanings of the solenoids to my routine maintenance schedule.

ok,i need to correct something, the code p1259 has not come up again after i cleared and drove that car 45 miles.look like is gone.the code that came back was p0401.now i learned that code p0401 is related to egr valve.i saw a picture showing the location of EGR valve on the motor .the car is same year and model as my Honda, however my is vtec and the EGR valve on my is not at the same place.i need to know the location to clean the EGR and see if this will help.
thanks.

The solenoid and pressure switch are just behind the passenger side of the valve cover. Pretty hard to miss.

The EGR valve is right next to the valve cover on the passenger side of the engine compartment. See this: https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-2001-2005-78/2002-civic-ex-egr-causing-cil-i-am-dunce-2920459/

Pull it off and clean it, along with the EGR port on the intake manifold. If that doesn't fix it, replace the EGR valve.

Good deal! Glad to hear that it was as simple as that.

That is wrong. The receiver is inside the dash board, under the radio. See photo below.

The little box with the green plug is the keyless receiver unit.

Does the power door lock work if you use the button inside the car? (make sure the door is closed) If not, it's either a blown fuse or the door lock actuator is bad, or it has a bad connection. My transmitter and receiver work fine, but my driver's door needs to be locked/unlocked with the key because my actuator is bad. Using my transmitter will not lock or unlock the door.

You can try to reprogram your transmitter/receiver and see if that works. Use this link from the FAQ's ..

When you're in the car, with the door closed, use the power door lock switch.

If you can hear a clicking noise inside the door, but the door will not lock or unlock, it's because the actuator is bad and needs to be replaced.

Using the remote will not lock or unlock the door if the actuator inside the door is bad. (it also won't work if the door is open)
