I somewhat skimmed thru the "official exhaust" thread and didn't find much to help.

I heard that the OEM exhaust manifold with the cat. converter built in are prone to cracking. Well... mine cracked, about 1.5 inch long in the front and about 3 inches in the back of the exhaust manifold...

So instead of paying $480+ for a new OEM exhaust manifold, I bought an aftermarket one from eBay (ya i know...). It has slightly bigger piping and a 4-1 design.

My problem is:
1. Car is not as responsive
2. CEL comes on every once in awhile

Someone told me to get my car tuned... I am looking for a second opinion for this idea. Get it tuned for a simple bolt on aftermarket headers? Is it necessary? And how much does this usually cost?

No cat = cel because your ecu thinks that your cat is bad because it is detecting that it is not meeting the cars emission's requirements. If you have a cel your car is most likely running in limp mode so thats why you have no power. You don't need a tune but in order to get rid of the cel you will need an o2 simulator there cheep like 10-15 bucks there is a diy on how to make them out of two spark plug deflouers if you search for it you should find it. After you get an o2 sim you will want to re-set your ecu to clear the codes and you should be good to go.
