03 civic LX is burning lot of oil
My wife's 03 civic LX is burning lot of oil. There is no leak but after 3000 mile when I check oil its below lower oil mark. When I do oil change only 1 1/2 qt oil comes out. Also on local driving gets only 27 mpg but on highway gets 37 mpg. NO check engine light no oil light.
Can you guys tell me what to look for? What might be problem?

Any blue smoke coming from the exhaust?
What do the plugs look like?
Checked/replaced the PCV valve?
How many miles on the engine? Rings could be shot.
Have you done any kind of troubleshooting? Leakdown test?

only 1 and 1/2 quarts comes out? I hope you are checking the oil before that time?
Do a compression test dry, then squirt a little oil each cylinder if the compression goes up chances are rings.

Basically you do all 4 and should have a guideline of what are good numbers, if one or more cyl. are much lower than the others that is the problem.
You can also do a leak down test, it is a little more involved.
