How long has it been since your last oil change? Sounds like your car is in limp mode. Change your oil and oil filter.

Try discharging your ECU by removing the positive battery cable from the battery. (Make sure you have your CODE for your stereo, otherwise it'll be locked out.) Let the cable sit off of the battery for about 10 minutes, then re-connect and see if the car will get past 3000 rpm's.

it's about 141xxx miles on there and no all my parts are stock no aftermarket stuff cause i'm poor college student lol. i started up one morning and drove it to my girlfriends house and when we went on the high way it just started acting up all gay like that. i live in the north side of fresno but i'm currently living in visalia again with my parents. but i'll try to discharge my ecu to see if it works or not. **** my car always have problems around this time of the year. i hate this car. lol. but my brother in law say it might be the rev limiter or something on there.

Take it to your local auto parts store and ask them to hook it up to the obd2 code scanner (a free service at most stores). There is obviously something wrong that it causing the ECU to default to Limp Mode.
