Depends on whether you are changing colors. Depends on how big your ride is. Depends on how many coats of paint you want. Depends on the paint. I would expect anywhere from $3K to $5K.

Generally if you want things painted on your car, dont do the prep work yourself, a good body shop doesn't want that, they want to do the work themselves, as to get it right. The best thing to do is actually go talk to the body shop estimater and find out what it costs. Painting labor and body labor are at $36-$40/hour if you go through your insurance, which they will only pay if you have had damage done. If you are not going through your insurance labor can range from $40-$45/hour. Now, what I suggest, since you are paying out of your pocket(im guessing), go to a body shop and tell the estimater you would like to speek to the painter about some of the work he does or use some other excuse so you can speak to their #1 painter. Ask the painter if he wants to do work for you on a side job(if he has the facilities), it will be a lot cheaper, maybe half the price, and he will let you do the prep work if you like. Well thats just my $0.02. If you have anymore ?'s related to this topic either post here or email me!

i got my friend to do it, i had the whole car repainted and i shaved the emblems myself and prepped the whole car, i got it painted the same color and it only cost me 600 with paint (thats without having the car buffed but another one of my friend is going to do that for about 50 bucks) the paint alone cost close to 300 (milano red) plus the clear coat, so it would have been only $200 if i bought the paint. the job is pretty damn good since he does have a proffesional place to do it, spray booth and all the equipment he needs
hey, im satisfied.
im tellin you, best way is to go through friends so you can get it cheap, i mean if the paint chips ill just have some parts redone and retouched if need be

haha!

I would check body shope first before you start sanding away... some painters want to do the whole thing and sanding may be somewhat important. there was a guy at my work who is goign to paint my sideskirts and i offered to sand them myself and he told me no, to let him do it
