might recoat my stock carpet gray My question is, does it bleed onto clothing or anything when it gets wet. Say if you walk in the rain and your white shirt is wet and then you sit in the car and drive 15 minutes home or something. Looks great

i did this to my blue interior on my accord.

as soon as a vacuumed it the first time the black started coming off and you could see the blue showing through again.

hope yours turns out better than mine did

looks good though

I'm sure there's a range in quality but from what I understand it's the same as the factory dye. It should hold its color equally long. I haven't done it myself but it was recommended to me by 3 or 4 auto upholstery shops in my area...one dude was about 70 years old and said he'd been doing it on hot rod interiors since the late 50s and had even used vinyl dye on his work truck. I was a little apprehensive before talking to those guys but they pretty much sold me on the idea, I'll probably be giving this a shot on my interior if I can find a good paint for the plastic pieces.

I'm assuming that how well it absorbs is mostly a result of how clean the carpet is when you dye it.

I checked the Duplicolor website and was wondering if he used the flat black or gloss black. I guess if I ever want to try this I'll use gloss black for the plastic panels, but I'm not too sure about the carpet though--gloss or flat?

Anhow, the Duplicolor website is pretty informative, and they even have a demo video on their vinyl and fabric spray product.

thats a good point, mine may not have stuck to carpet cause it was gloss black.

I'd like to see how this holds up over time. I've always considered a tan to black interior swap, but it'd be tedious and expensive to find all the bits and peices.

Bump for working pics.

Alright guys.. I took some pics yesterday, but I never got a chance to vacume it out and I want you guys to see it all clean.. So I'm planning on doing that after work and getting some better pics.

I would have posted them last night, but I had a migrane and didn't feel like breathing, so I definetly didn't feel like staring at a puter for any length of time :S If you've never had a migrane, you have no idea. If you've been unfortunate enough in yoru life to have experienced one, then you understand :S ( I still had it at 4am, though its gone now )

So far, the smell is going away.. From what I can tell, the dye is'nt wearing off, though this week will tell. I pick up 2 guys for work so I'll have a good idea how long it'll last by the end of the week.

Please post pics/ review after you vacume, it sounds like you've done a good job and I'm thinking this might be a good weekend project if it holds up!
