Yeah, thats basically the only purpose. Its about 5lbs comparing to the stock one which is pretty heavy. I also have a rear one for a ek hatchback.

Look at the mounting points, they are exactly what they claim to be.

I saw an Alex (same thing under a different name) years ago and decided against it for safety reasons. I'm happy I did as I got rear ended (no homo) that wasn't bad - it just ruined the bumper but the reinforcement was fine. I imagine if I had something like this I would have been dealing with a lot more damage.

Please consider safety before the weight savings.
