K24Z3 vs K24Z2
Just snagged a dirt cheap 08 Accord from a friend who let the oil get too low - I used to maintain it for her and warned her nunerous times about checking the oil...
fast forward - I now own it for $500 cash and just grabbed a K24Z2 for $250 with everything including harness. Its gorgeous and doesnt look like it has maybe 50,000 miles max. The valves and ports are beautiful.
Anyways - got it home and then realized the engine in the Accord is a Z3. Ive read several forums where people cant seem to find any difference between the two engines other than the exhaust and tuning - but that doesnt make sense to me, as why would they stamp into the block casting the "K24Z2" vs "K24Z3"?? You cant tell me there is no difference as the digit is different 😄
Do you think I can just drop this Z2 in place of the Z3? I can probably salvage the z3 in the Accord (158,000) I believe the timing stretched and is slapping and caused the no start issue and noise, but I could be wrong. I haven't really torn into it yet).
I read ONE comment on a forum somewhere that a guy said he did this swap.and his car ran in limp mode from different sensors and such.
