Speaker woes!
Hey all, I'm having a bit of a problem with my speakers and would greatly appreciate any input.
My car's a 2004 Accord coupe, manual. Recently I've been having a problem with my left front speaker. I think it's a wiring issue because the speaker's not blown out since it doesn't have a muffled or distorted sound. But it goes in and out, sometimes for long periods of time. Sometimes if I run over a bump on the freeway or something the sound will turn off or on. It's the stereo/speakers that the car came with. Before I pay mucho to have it looked at, I was wondering if anyone here knows what the problem is, and if it's a DIY kind of thing!
Thanks in advanced!

Re: Speaker woes!
Sounds to me like you have radio issue no the wiring. If it was the wiring shorting out it would make a verry distinctive poping sound and make all of the speakers in the car go out. Best way to confirm the problem is to grab a wiring diagram in do some continuity test from the back of the radio to the speaker. If good take the speaker from the right and try it on the left. If still having the problem then you my friend need a new radio.

Re: Speaker woes!
hey there
just FYI there doesn't have to be a popping noise to have a wiring problem. usually an intermittent problem in a door is caused by a break in the wire (not necessarily a short) try this, turn your radio on, open your door all the way, reach in and shake the rubber grommet housing the wiring harness between the body of the car and the door very vigorously. if the speaker goes out there is likely an intermittent break in the wire feeding it and as long as its not grounded it wont pop the speaker.
not saying this is the cause but this is a 30 second method for finding a break in the most likely place, the harness going to the door.
