Radio Reset

Radio Reset
I have a 2003 Accord. The radio needs to be reset. I found the five digit code in the glove department on a label. I turned on the car and entered the code. Nothing. I tried this 10 times. Nothing. I unhooked the negative battery cable. Turned on the car and the radio displayed the word code. I entered the code again. Nothing.
Does the car key switch just need to be turned on instead of the engine being idled? This started one day because it was raining real hard. I left
work, and the check engine light came lit up on the dashboard. I read on goggles about unhoolking the batterty to get the check engine light to go off. Now I have the check engine light on and the radio doesn't work.
Is there a certain sequence of procedures you need to do to get the radio to work again.
Thanks

when you press the power to turn on the radio, does it show "code" or "error".
If it shows "error", then you have to disconnect the negative battery cable for a minute or 2, then reattach it.
If the display shows "code", then punch in the 5-digit code (when you press each number, it'll spell out the word 'code'). If you punch it in correctly, you should get through.
Now if you keep punching in the right numbers, and you still get 'error', go to your nearest honda dealership (with the car) and go to one of the service writers. They'll get the serial number off the radio and get the anti-theft code through honda interactive. Reason why I say you going with your car there is b/c they'll most likely not give you the code over the phone.
