Default radiator hose life span

How long can I expect the radiator hoses to last. I have an 03 Accord EX V6 with 98K, original hoses. I have had them inspected several times and advised to leave them alone.

I have scheduled some preventative maintenance to be done, (first time) Timing belt, serp belt and pulleys and adjuster, water pump, cam seals, spark plugs and seals, tranny flush, brake fluid flush. I am wondering if the hoses should be changed. They appear to be in great shape, no cracks, or bulges. Hold their shape.

If you're getting all that done, I would go ahead and have them replace the hoses as well being that they will have to flush the cooling system for the timing belt install anyway.

At my dealership we usually recommend replacement hoses with timing belt service, if it's due because of time and not mileage.

Thank you. I have already scheduled replacement, but was really just curious.

10 years or 100K miles. I've seen it gone bad as early as 75K. And this was on a dealer serviced car.

I think it's all luck.

I have also gone 120K without it (sold the car so I don't know.)

My 92 Accord was sold with 140k miles, at 12 years old, and it still had the original hoses on it. These are not GM hoses.

Often times, aren't they from the same supplier?

What region one is in also matter too. Hot dry climates will also wear on the hoses.

Humidity must be good for hoses, because even after 12 years the hoses still looked great, with no drying or cracking. GM obviously wasn't getting their hoses from the same supplier because when I was checking the vacuum hoses on the Chevy truck, one of them crumbled in my hand. The GM hoses looked like they were made of plastic, not rubber. I have always washed the engines on my Accords at the car wash, but was afraid to try that with the Chevy because the wiring looked just as bad as the hoses.

My example of 75K was on a friends BMW 3 series in AZ. He arrived, and the hose just busted. The car was dealer serviced. So if there was weakness, they would have spotted it. Hot and dry climate. He was pissed, but when we took it to the dealership, they said this is "normal" because of the area.
