hey people

my gf's bro picked up a 2010 accord coupe 3.5L v6 ex-l autotragic recently and i wanted to know some things to help him get some good mods.

whats the engine code on this vehicle? is there a chassis/year code for the car? how is this model/engine different from earlier models?

i told him he'd be better off getting a nice single stainless catback exhaust for the car than a cold air intake. i deal with the s2000 and an older NSX at work which are awesome but i don't know anything about this model...does anyone have opinions on exhausts specifically and any other useful (read- more go than show) mods for this car. and any recommendations on good reputable tuner shops in northern nj?

we did some searches on here but didn't come up with a lot of specifics.

The engine is a J35Z2 since you said it's an automatic. Z2s comes with VCM which shut it down to 4 and 3 cylinder mode. VCM in the Accord application is a bit more notchy vs others. Then again, it's probably more aggressive in trying to save gas. Make no mistake, it will rocket from 0-60mph in 6.5sec in automatic form (according to Motor Trend). Not bad for a 3,600lbs car. Does he need to go faster?

Some coupe guys go with Magnaflow catback. But there is also drone, like any performance exhaust. Maybe less so if one just do mufflers because the G8 Accords does have two resonators vs. one on the catback.

The bumpers is style for dual, so one should go dual outlet exhaust. It looks better. He paid a lot of money for it, so it has to look good.

Keep in mind he also got HFL bluetooth thing. So I'm not sure he would want it too noisy with intake and exhaust.

do most get a Magnaflow universal or is there a pre-bent direct-fit application made? i'd prefer a direct fit over trying to do a custom from universal bits...but haven't found anything that fits. is the 2010 accord coupe called a G8? and are they the same fit as a 2005 for instance? what years are interchangeable parts?

any other modifications anyone would recommend? stuff that won't void warranty. i told him to just leave it stock for now but he's kinda excited to modify things already. any showy external or interior mods that anyone likes a lot?

it sounds like a cold air intake would not help the noise situation...is there a drop in k&n that still improves breathability?

Magaflow makes catback (for Coupe) straight out of the box, direct bolt on.

Sedan guys would have to go universal.

G8 = Gen 8 - 8th generation Accord (2008+)

2005s are Gen7 (2003-2007), most parts will not fit. I'm sure there are parts we don't see that are the same. Wheels can and do fit, but the offset may be off. Most guys like to push them out a bit. For example, Acura TL wheels will work on both G7 and G8 very nicely.

No mods should void warranty. Look up magnussen act online.

Most Accord guys I know just get intake-exhaust, lowered, and wheels.

Pretty much OEM for mine. Did LED interior lights. I would do coilovers to GoLow and be true to my name. But life carrys on.....

that ebay listing says it won't fit 2010 3.5 coupes...?? strange...everywhere i go it says 2008 2009 but not 2010 compatible? i asked the seller a question about it fitting the 2010 coupe 3.5...so we'll see what they say. 2008-present should all be exactly the same based on everything i've found out in the last two days.

I'm 99.999% sure 08-10 is exactly the same. I can understand if they say 11 is different, because it's not out yet and it's part of the mid-model change.

08-10 are the same, 2010 only added bluetooth

If we want to talk about the differences, we should also add what Honda took away in the name of cost cutting on the 10 vs 08-09.
