Parking Brake
I need to adjust my parking brake. When you pull on the handle it has alot of play and goes up a lilttle before it even clicks and when it clicks it goes all the way back to fully grap. I read in a shop manual that you have to remove the center console and adjust the nut on the handle itself. When I asked a mechanic he told me to adjust it behind the rear wheel and that my car even though it has disc brakes in the rear there is a sepeate set of shoes for the parking brake that could be worn out. What part of this is true and how exactly do I adjust it? Thanks

That mechanic needs to find another line of work. The adjustment is under the console. I can't recall if the Accord does have an adjustment at the wheels or not but it does not have a second set of brakes.

It's behind the lever under the storage compartment portion of the console. You actually have to loosen the console enough to lift the back to get to it.

OMG. I'm gunna have to spend my Friday trying to get the rest of the console off. What a pain in the ***! lol

I kinda in the same situation, but I have drums. I was having to click up to 11 to make it fully engage.
I just replaced the shoes and had the drums turned. I put back the drums, press on the brakes a few times to adjust the shoes. But my e-brakes still takes alot of clicks to fully engage.
When I follow the instruction in y Haynes, like you have it here... the shoes eventually starts to rub the drums, but only at one point of the revolution. It seems like only a minor variance, though, but I thought I should check with you guys if this is normal after replacing shoes.
Anyway... if I stop adjusting by then, it would still take a lot of clicks to fully engage the e-brake. But if I continue adjusting until I get a rubbing consistently all the wal around, I'm afraid when the e-brakes are off, there would be more than just a slight rubbing at the one point.

Only lift the rear of the center console to access the adjusting nut. It is not necessary to remove the whole thing.
There is a specification for each vehicle regarding the number of clicks to fully apply the parking brake. Some vehicles are as little as 3 or 4, some are around 10. Just because your shoes rub slightly and you have a certain number of clicks at the handle doesn't mean there is a problem. Check the specification before adjusting the parking brake.
