Poor Fuel Economy from K24A8 Engine?
Howdy y'all,
I'm new to the forum but not new to the Honda family. My immediate family has been driving Hondas since the early 90's and they have been very satisfied with them overall. About 2.5 years ago, I bought my dad a pre-owned 2007 Honda Accord EX-L with the K24A8 engine with 74K miles at the time. When I'd initially bought it for him, he was getting about 30 MPG highway and 24-26 MPG city. Now he tells me he gets 19 MPG city and about 24 MPG highway at best. It has approximately 93K miles on it now. I'm a veteran enthusiast with experience on the H series, D series, and F series engines. I've never dabbled around in the K series however and they seem to be fairly foreign to me in comparison to their predecessors. Any ideas at what might be causing the major decline in fuel economy? I should probably mention that every 6 weeks or so, the CEL will come on with a code of an oxygen sensor going out. All input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

the k series is the same as any other internal combustion engine in regards to reduced performance and mileage... if you are already familiar with those other series, apply that same knowledge to the k series.
