Default Hard Steering

If I have a mild hard steering issue its possible that it could be a power steering pump problem? I would test it by checking the pressure of it . By reading My Factory Honda Service Manual. But I realized its not A Factory Honda Power steering pump. So would it be better to replace it with a Genuine Honda Pump. then recheck? any help or suggestions appreciated. thanks

I'd start with a fluid swap and changing the o-rings on the pump input and output lines. The o-rings cost about a buck a piece. $12 worth of fluid.

Way cheaper than a pump and takes all of a half hour to do.

I just did the 04 coupe and noticed more responsive steering on the next drive.

oh yes I forgot to mention I did replace the power steering fluid. it seemed to help for like a day then back to hard steering. o rings where replaced because of the hose recall. But im unsure on what type of pump is in there its sliver and looks similar to the Honda Genuine Pump but I know its not factory because of the side of the body of the pump. has a different casting.

I know this is a old thread but I will be replacing my Power steering pump soon but from what I read in my factory service manual it says to remove the passengers side engine mount bracket. But it looks like to me I can remove the pump by just removing the two mounting pump bolts. And lifting the pump straight up. Because to me it seems like I don't have to remove the passengers side engine mount bracket. Basically I don't want to have to remove more parts unless I have to. Because the factory service manual says to remove certain parts when doing repairs. I have found out that its usually not required. for somethings
