No Manual Transmission in 2014 V6 Sedan
Hi
I am proud owner of the 30th Anniversary 2006 Honda Accord EX V6 Manual transmission sedan. I have been extremely satisfied with its performance especially the acceleration and features. It is one of the few cars that can get to 60mph below 6 seconds till date. I think since 2008 Honda stopped making manual transmission in the V6 Sedan market. The feedback I got from sales people is that Sedan is a family car and even if the guy wants to drive a manual the wife does not. Luckily for me that is not the case. Manual transmission is not available only in the USA(lucky rest of the world)
Every year I hope Honda will change its mind and it does not happen. I was at least hoping that Honda would do something similar to what luxury segments like BMW do wherein you can custom order your car. Are there other manual transmission aficionados who would want to drive with more than 2 people in the car out there? And if you are what is the car that you guys drive at present?

Man, I have only seen the Sendans in manual with the L4. We got a truck in last month that came with a few manual sedans but like I said they were L4 not V6. I wish you could get a manual v6 sedan because not everyone likes the coupes like myself. I drive a 2013 civic si sedan. My car before that was a 2010 honda fit 5spd manual. If my fiance doesnt want to drive a manual, its her problem not mine. I refuse to settle on an automatic transmission just so she can drive it. My Si sendan has plenty of room for a family and I plan to use it as a family car as well when the time comes.

There just isn't enough demand for manuals now. They don't really get better gas mileage anymore, which was the main attraction for many people. Personally, I don't get a thrill out of shifting my own gears. I had a manual for 10 years, and I'm glad I have an automatic now. There's just no need for it IMO.

I understand the whole convenience part. I did try the 2013 Honda Accord EX I-4 with six speed manual transmission Sedan. It does not have the same acceleration like my 7 year old car. The paddle shifter option for the same car is on a CVT which am not sure is real shifting. I wonder if occasional lead footers are satisfied with automatic transmission.

It's an adjustment, no doubt about that. I still find myself reaching for the shifter, when coming to a stop, and it's been 6 months since I had the manual transmission. When I'm driving to work, and don't have to put my coffee down to shift, I appreciate the automatic a lot more. Passing on the highway is different with an automatic because the anticipation is different, but if you can adapt, an automatic V6 will pass with ease too. I would rather have my right hand on my wife's thigh, than on a shift lever any day.

Not a manual aficionado. Had some, liked them, don't miss the hassle. If Formula 1 doesn't need them, who does?

Formula 1 still has real gear boxes with shifting totally under the driver's control. Are the paddle shifters/semi automatic gear boxes like that? I mean say I shift to the second gear and floor the gas will the RPM hit the roof or will the ECU shift automatically for me? As far as I know it is not the case in the 2013 Accord Sedan I-4 with paddle shifters.

I don't think it will let you over-rev the engine, but isn't that a good thing? Some people shouldn't have "total control", because it can screw up the engine. The way I hear it, some paddle shifters work much better than others, but I've never tried them myself. Seems like mostly a gimmick.

I think the paddle shifters on the CVT accord is a gimmick as well. I wish they had a semi automatic paddle shifter on the V6 Accord Sedan. That is what I wanted to test drive but am told is not available. I could be wrong but am told the semi automatic gearbox on the AUDI A4 would let you over rev the engine.
@BLKFLSH " I would rather have my right hand on my wife's thigh, than on a shift lever any day" Nice quip. That might be the comment that made me think about an automatic transmission in a positive light :-)

Re: No Manual Transmission in 2014 V6 Sedan
To feed "my need" for a manual car, I got a used car (Sentra SE-R Spec V). As much as I want a manual trans too, I think the Accord is better served as an automatic. It suppose to be big, comfortable, quiet, smooth, etc, etc.
I could mod my Accord to be a killer, but that's not what the car is suppose to be. The cost to mod would be a few thousands $$$. That's about the price of a good manual trans used car - to toy around with.

I own a 2012 Accord sedan manual which was hard to find i will admit. After driving manual since i was 15 which has only been 5 years. I prefer manual to automatic any day. I don't care if it is a hassle at times but I still enjoy it.
