A/C freezes up

A/C freezes up
Hello, I have a 2008 Honda Accord Coupe v6 lx, no nav package, with 145000. My A/C compressor wont turn off and it freezes up the whole line and after a while the ice builds up to the point that air will not come out to vents. Regardless of the a/c buttion being on or off the a/c keeps running. When i pull the plug from the a/c it stops running and it will allow the ice to thaw out and let air back through vents. From what i read it is eather the thermostat controll or a clutch on the a/c compressor its self. Any idea how to diagnose one or the other, or any ideas at all???
Thanks

Re: A/C freezes up
keep us updated please if you find the problem. i have a jeep Cherokee that the lines are freezing up and actually the lines are leaking somewhere because im getting water on the ground under the vehicle. haven't really checked on it yet but was just wondering if you found out what your problem was.

Re: A/C freezes up
for the Accord, also check for HVAC codes.
for the Jeep- not sure of their set up- have the pressures (high and low) checked on the AC System. A low charge, still enough for the pressure switch to be closed, can cause the lines/evap to freeze up.

Re: A/C freezes up
Hey gusy,
sorry for the delay in responce. I left town fo a few days and before i left i unplugged my A/C compressor and let the car sit. When i got back a 3 days later plugged it back in and the problem looks like it solved it self. The A/C turns on and off and no longer freezes up.
My guess it first turned to ice last week when i started to drive down from NH to florida The temp was cold and i think the A/C was turned on so it just frooze up and never fully defrosted. Now that i am in florida and the temp is warmer it defrosted and i can not reproduce the problem.
Thanks for your help,
I will keep you guys posted if anything changes.
