Autodimming mirror with exterior temperature
Hello guys, I did not know where to post this so I am posting it here, sorry for any inconvenience I might have caused to the order of threads.
I decided to keep my 2012 Accord SE, and as you know stupid Honda does not put exterior temperature gauge on the SE model (and I forgot 2 check when buying the car because I thought every car on the planet has one already) , so I went ahead and paid almost 400 bucks and bought a Gentex autodimming mirror with outside temperature indicator. I also paid 2 hours of labor to the dealership and had it installed.
Now the mirror is showing the temperature but when it is parked for a long time, the temperature reading is off by 8-9 degrees Celsius. It only starts showing a sensible number after you drive it for like 5 minutes. I have been reading reviews of this type of mirror and everybody says the temp gauge is very accurate , so I am thinking this could be a bad installation? I am pretty sure dealership did a crappy job since the wire going to the mirror is not covered by wire cover (apparently they have lost the wire cover) but I am also sure if I go back and complain about the temperature readings they will blame the mirror manufacturer and won't accept any responsibility regarding the installation.
What do you guys think is the reason this stupid thing is reading off temps and what should I do?
