Default 2005 Accord rear wheel problem

Hi,

I have a 2005 Accord coupe. It makes a loud clunk when going over bumps that sounds like its coming from the rear passenger wheel. I looked at the wheel today and it looked like the wheel was tilting inward. When i took the tire off the tread wear was bad. Inside of the tire is bald. Wheel bearing? Any ideas? I need some direction on this please. Thanks

are both wheel tilting at the same angle? if not do not drive the car, that is a safety hazard and may result in an accident.
honda sedans do have normal negative rear wheel camber so it would be impossible for anyone to diagnose this without seeing it. this would cause asymmetrical tire wear as part of it's normal operation.

I highly doubt a wheel bearing would cause a wheel tilt, but something else might. can you get a picture? have you carefully jacked the car up and removed the wheel to have a look?

anything loose in there after you removed the wheel?
believe me, ALL accord coupe and sedans have negative rear camber. that just how they come from the factory normally.
they should not clunk though, this makes me think that there might be a control arm that is loose or the stabilizer bar that is loose.

both might cause a clunk, but only a control arm will cause a ABNORMAL wheel tilt

well i dropped and broke my freakin camera lens. my day just keeps getting better. crap. i do see that there is negative camber on both wheels but it just looks more pronounced on the right and thats the only tire wearing bad on the inside. i jacked it up, no play in the wheel. took it off, didnt see anything odd or obviously broken. i will look again tomorrow when im not so pissed off.

Check your shocks for oil residue...that may be the reason why you hear a clunking sound. If I recall correctly these accords are still within factory camber even it if -1.5 degrees. Hope this helps.

When you jack the car by the frame you are loading the suspension. If there is a loose anywhere you won't catch it.Science you have a wear on a tire you have either something loose (and it's causing a ecessive toe out ) or there is mechanical damage to suspension components.Any way you will have to bring the car for alignment, they should check the suspension for loose(inspection of the suspension included in alignment fees) and then put the heads on to read the angles (geometry )of the car/wheels.There are no other options.

ok heres the update. ive been busy so i havent had time to look at it but i noticed today while driving it i heard nothing til i was at lower speeds and heard the clunk on small bumps-at higher speeds nothing. then for some reason i pushed on the gas pedal when i was in park and heard the clunk as it was idling down and again when i started the car back up. oviously im not moving so i doubt its any kind of wheel prob. it sounds exhaust related but it all seemed secure when i looked at it. what do you guys think

a co-worker of mine suggested a broken baffle in the muffler since it clunks while in motion and when parked and during start up. which makes sense since it sounds like the noise is coming from the right rear shock and thats where the muffler is. im gonna check into that tonight

well then, might as well check your exhaust hangers... if it rattles when you blip the throttle.

A busted muffler or exhaust hangers will not cause your tire wear issue. Sounds like you may have 2 separate issues. Have you check your sway bar end links?
