Premise:
1999 Accord EX V6 Sedan w/205,000 miles. 4AT
VIN: 1HGCG1653XA061771

Problem:
Very loud road noise and vibration. Initially thought it was tires. Sounds like tire rubbing on fender rubber, but turns out that it's a wheel bearing issue.

Question:
Local dealer charging $165 ea. for rears and $95 ea. for fronts for parts. Too expensive IMO. Where can I get OEM parts for cheap? Any vendors here that can beat that price? Must be OEM. What should I expect to pay for labor to install? Thank you so much in advance. I know the forum has pulled through for me before on other cars and saved me a ton of $$. Have a great day.

Timken and NTN bearings are what they use for OEM. I recently removed my bearings and the part numbers were the same on both bearings with the OEM. Autozone or rockauto.com should have them for cheap.

quite a coincidence, i'm planning to replace the same part on a similar model this weekend ('01 4cyl, 5spd). the rear aren't as tricky but the part is more expensive. the front are a hassle but the part is less expensive.

unlike the older model accords which use a flanged outer ring bolted to the knuckle, the 98-02 have the bearing pressed into the knuckle retained by a c-clip. The knuckle must come off the car which means the brake caliper and CV axle must be disconnected then the UCA, LCA and tie-rod ends need to come loose to get the knuckle out. at that point the hub must be pressed out, the inner ring removed with a bearing puller or cut off with a cut-off wheel. then the rest of the bearing pressed out of the knuckle. you're still only halfway done at this point...

that's why they charge what they do. what you were quoted sounds reasonable to me for quality parts and competent workmanship.

I got SKF from rockauto.com because i know the brand is good even though it's not OEM. it doesn't matter if it's the OE brand as long as the quality is equivalent. the SKF was $35 for the front.

I know I don't have the same year (94) but I just did mine and it was $35 for the bearing, and $35 at pepboys to press them out and in.
