Default Wheel size affecting speedometer explanation plz?!

I have 205/65R15 on my accord right now... let's say i get 205/55R15 tires... since the new tires are lower profile, hence creating a smaller circumference of the tire and the fact that the speedometer doesn't adjust for tire size difference, how do u adjust for it?!

For example, a smaller tire would make the speedometer go faster than it should and a bigger tire slower than it should cause a larger tire can cover more distance per rotation than a smaller tire.

U get the idea... how do u H-T guys compensate for this or do u jus play it by ear?

you are right..
when you running with smaller tire/rims you speedo is little bit off..
like you going 60mph instead you only going 59.9 in real life.
in other word, it;s not significant enough to care..lol

If you were to go for a more noticely diameter change to say a 50 series, the different in not only speed but mileage on your odomoter is noticeable. 7 of us went up to seattle for HIN, after comparing our odometers for the trip up there, my friend's subaru, running 195/50r15's, me running 195/60r15's, and my buddy in his prelude running 205/40r17's, i had the lowest mileage, followed by the prelude, and the subaru clocking 48 miles more than me up to seattle. We were all caravanning up there too.

There's also somewhere a formula to find out how fast you are doing depending on your diameter somewhere on the net. You could always find the cop speed indicators to find out for sure.

It's more than that, more in the areas of 5%.

You could always try correcting by going with 225/55R15, that would get you close enough.
