Default What's up/couple questions

Hey guys,

First off, I want to say whats up, just signed up. I had a 1999 Accord EX 4 door 5 speed as a daily for a couple years while I built a project car, and recently gave it to my brother now that my car is on the road. I never modified it, since it was my daily, but he wants to jump feet first into some modifications, and I'll be helping him whenever I'm in town.

I'm a subaru guy, so bear with me if I ask dumb questions. By the way, great FAQ, some of the questions I had were already answered there.

Firstly, what years fall under which generations? A lot of great info around, but I don't know which generation the 1999 accord falls under, so I'm unsure as to what version of a guide to read.

Secondly, is there an exhaust, catback most likely for now, that we can put on there that isnt too obnoxious? Neither he nor I want to make a scene driving down the road, this car is no speed demon right now and so we're treading softly to avoid a rice designation. I know this is a matter of opinion, but some ideas/sound clips would be great.

Also, when I was in Japan last, I spotted a couple accords of the same body style, and the front end on them looked a bit more angular, and in my opinion, cooler. Seeing as the front bumper is going to need replacing at some point, how hard is it to convert to the JDM front end? I have a place I can get anything I need from, I just need to know which parts to tell him to send me.

finally, brakes. When I was driving the car, it was obvious to me that they were the weak point. Does anyone have any reccomendations as to anything that can be done about them? I've already placed an order for a set of cryo treated and slotted rotors, as well as some metalmaster pads, but is there a way for us to use a larger brake kit from some other model? We'd like to eventually step up to a 5 lug setup, however I'm guessing its no small process, and we're just going to put that off until we decide to finally swap out that motor, and just do it all at the same time.

Sorry for my honda illiteracy guys Thanks in advance for your help!

The 1999 accord is the 6th generation accord
1990 to 1993 (4th)
1994 to 1997 (5th)
1999 to 2002 (6th)
