what is a "valve, air assist solenoid??"
i'm wondering if it's related to the EGR.. if it is then i'm going to dump it... if it's not related to the EGR what is it used for?
number 5 in the link... thanks!

Thats the solenoid that opens and closes the vacuum to the EGR valve.
With vac the EGR opens, without it closes.

i thought that was the valve that allows air to flow through to the injectors during certain rpm's to help lean out the fuel mixture.

i didnt necessarily mean that it went through the injectors. i shouldve said that it flows through a small port in the intake manifold that feeds air near the injectors so that an additional amount of air is "assisted" along with the "spraying" of the injectors. make sense? i know it sounds a little confusing.
the reason why i dont think its part of the EGR .. well directly.. is the fact that the 95 accords have it but the other year accords did not. my knowledge about this topic maybe fairly limited but last year my air assist solenoid went bad and i had to find a new one and it wasnt easy finding one. luckily i found an intake manifold that was intact at the junkyard and i just swapped it.
honestly if i'm wrong, i would really like to know what it actually does. i blocked off my EGR so if i dont need it then maybe i could d/c it so that it doesnt cause any bad side-effect on the fact that i blocked off the EGR.
lemmeknow .. peace

Just to clarify, I think you are talking about two different things. The Fuel Injection Air Control System (FIA) does flow more air near injectors. It's a way to improve the atomization and distribution of the fuel after it leaves the injector.
What Honda/Acura calls the Air Assist Solenoid Valve may have to do with the EGR system as he says or it just may be another name for FIA.
FIA: During low speed engine operation, Fuel Injection Air (FIA) control valves sends intake air to the fuel injectors. This increases fuel atomization at injectors during throttle tip-in.
