1999 Accord V6 auto drives itself?!?
Yesterday I was driving about 30 miles an hour and all of a sudden the car took off by itself as if I floored it. I felt the pedal being pressed down (by itself) just like when using cruise control but the cruise button was off. I tried slamming on the breaks but the engine was more powerful. And when i finally popped it into neutral it revved to redline for a couple of seconds then it calmed down and I was able to stop.
I checked the pedal and nothing was obstructing it or causing it to depress.
I checked the accelerator mechanism in the engine bay and the spring did look a little dry but seemed pretty normal.
The car has never done this before and I wouldnt want it to happen again.
Would you guys have any ideas on what might have caused it and what I could do to prevent it from happening again??
TIA
