Default Power steering issues

So I noticed I had a small leak under my car and come to find out it was power steering fluid because my reservoir was low. So I used non Honda power steering fluid and now my pump went bad. The reservoir has been full since then but my pump whines like no other. So my question is do you guys think the lines are now clogged and fluid isn't getting to the pump OR since my pump took a dump on me its just not pumping. It's a j30 engine just in case. Also my baby just hit 230k miles 👍🏿

you probably just need to replace the orings in the pump, its not as hard as you'd think, just remember the pulley bolt is righty loosey, the rebuild kit is only like $20 or so

There's also the Lucas power steering additive/conditioner. It works pretty well. Something to try if rebuilding the pump is a bit to intimidating for you.

so upon doing more research and you tube videos lol...my problem #1 could be that I used non Honda power steering fluid which I see could be very crucial. #2 watching youtube videos I checked to see if it was bubbles inside of the reservoir tank (which it was) meaning pretty much that I mixed fluids and that there air in the system. So before I go and replace the pump I'm going to replace the o-ring, flush the system and use HONDA FLUID. Hopefully that does the job. But I still need to chase down that leak cause $5.99 a bottle. I appreciate the quick responses and I'll keep you guys posted. Probably won't get to it till this weekend

So I replaced the o-ring that goes from the reservoir to the power steering pump (red o-ring) and flushed the system and everything is all good. No more noise. Glad I didn't have to get another pump BUT i still need to chase that leak down so I won't have to keep buying power steering fluid.
