Default Is it true that honda's do not have a serviceable transmission filter?

Im a first time honda owner of an 01 accord. It has an automatic transmission and I was going to change the fluid and filter this weekend. I bought the car used, has now 62,000 miles, figured a fluid and filter change would be a good idea.I go on parts web sites and can find a filter. I have a hard time finding a pan gasket though. I go on ebay and see a kit for adding an external filter kit. The seller states that honda's don't have a replaceable filter. Is this true? My haynes manual only talks about draining the fluid and replacing it. No mention of a filter.Seems odd!

Pretty much true. There may be filter, but it would require a tear down of the trans to get to it.

Your choices are...

Remove the drain plug and drain the trans. Replace fluid through the fill hole.
Drive a day or so and repeat the process at least once, preferably twice.

Or go to shop that can power flush the trans.

Either way, make sure you use only Honda ATF or an exact equivalent.

O.k.,thanks! It seemed weird cause my last car,God forbid I say this, was a Kia. It was a 2000 and I easily replaced the filter. I figured all cars were the same way.

Honda filters are internal to trans and cannot be removed unless you plan on overhauling it.

like everyone said filter(screen) can't be change without yanking it open, not need it if you been doing the juice change according to the date.

don't add external filter for the atf, the pressure might drop and tranny will not like it.

don't power flush neither, just do drain and fill with OEM fluid.

Cool, thanks! Now with that said, where do I get this honda fluid from? I've been looking on ebay.$12.75 for 3 quarts, not too bad. Can you get this stuff,or an acceptable substitute at the local parts store?
