Default Timing Belt broke

What's goin on fellas and ladies...quick deal. I have a 90 accord lx (coupe) only 140k runs like a champ. My timing belt went out on me on the highway going 75mph, the car cut off didn't hear any bangs or clanks. I pulled over and of course because I didn't know the issue tried to start the car shortly after again no bangs or any sounds of valves in contact with each other just a weird noise of the car trying to start. What are the odds of the valves being damaged? Also called machine shop for info and was informed by the machinist the Hondas around that year usually don't suffer valve damage of a broken timing belt. How true is this? Any info would be helpful. Thanks!

Ive never heard of one not being damaged, when breaking at that speed. But, if you want to, get a belt and install it. Do a compression test. That will tell you right away what you need to know.

That probably broke from age of rubber, rather than just mileage. 140k miles, and belt has never been changed in 25 years.

I think they all have the high possibility of valve damage, but I am not intimately familiar with your Accord.
