it could be a lot of things. bad injectors. bad fuel filter. bad pump. o2 sensor might be going out. the code just tells you wrong with it. you have to diagnose it to pinpoint whats at fault. a scanner never! tells you what to replace

For your 1997 Accord, I would lean toward more where it may be due to the primary oxygen sensor.

So this morning, the check engine went off. My question is, Do i ignore this issue now that the light went off or do I proceed 2 check out my primary sensor, fuel regulator, etc.?

Sounds like you running lean. And did you gap your spark plugs right? Just cuz you buy spark plugs that are gapped doesnt mean there gapped right ALWAYS GAP them before putting them in. You could clean it with some o2 sensor safe cleaner. But it wont last clean its already out.

i gapped the plugs correctly and everything and the car is idling fine now but it is still very sluggish the check engine light has not came back on (i disconnected the battery when i did plugs) and i did a test on the fuel injectors by removing one and checking the rpms and they where fine so i have no idea i was told maybe the idle air control valve but would that affect just the one cylinder as the code says any other ideas?

Honestly ive never seen the iacv affect just one cylinder. It feed extra ait to all four runners in the intake

yeah the check engine light just came back on today and the idle started screwing up again right as it came on no idea what could be cousing it.....
any more ideas id figure sense its only idling bad when the light is actully on it would deffinatly be a sensor and not the fuel pump or regulator

Did you read my post? A scanner doesnt tell you what to replace. It tells you what the problem is. Then diagnose it futher to find out whats at fault..

those 0171 codes are a sure pain. I changed my front 02 sensor, didn't clear the code, changed my FF had never been changed (170,000) cleared the lean condition, but now I'm getting an EGR code. Been a real pain in the butt, can't get my tags till I get it cleared (live in Cali) if I can't clear the EGR code, gonna take it to the shop, tired of messing with this thing. Don't mean to be a negative nilly, but it's been a pain

Well, pulled my fuel injectors, rail, and EGR chamber, ports weren't too bad didn't look like any were completely clogged. Cleaning the chamber and replaced the gasket. Sent my injectors out to get professionally cleaned. Get the injectors back tomorrow and gonna throw it back together.

My 06 accord 4 cyl is having issues while it's idling. The rpms will fluctuate up and down and sometimes my engine will actually die and I have to restart my car. The check engine light goes off and on and I was able to check it and it came up as p0171. Can someone point me in the right direction of where to start? I know it could be a variety of issues but I'm wondering based on what my car is doing if there are more logical places to start(like start with mass airflow sensor vs vacuum leak etc) so I don't have to troubleshoot 5 things before I fix the problem. Thanks
