Default temporary A/C bypass belt

Has anyone every bypassed the A/C compressor with a shorter belt? I want to get better gas mileage over the winter.

If you want your defrosters to work leave it as is. Besides, it's not that much of a drag if the clutch isn't engaged on the compressor.
