Superchargers safer than Turbo kits?
I was wondering if anyone knew if superchargers are safer than turbos. I know they both use boost, but does a supercharger wear out internals as fast as a turbo kit set on the same amount of boost? I noticed that the kits cost about the same as turbo kits....but turbo kits are more customizeable. Would a supercharged H22 be more reliable than a Turbo one?

Superchargers run at a higher temperature which puts more stress on your motor. With these cars in particular, minimal boost is reliable on a stock block. If you try to test the limits, be prepared to build. It think 300whp out of these motors is reliable, but you never know.

It all depends on the state of the motor before boost. I put 10 pounds and roughly 250-260 hp through mine before blowing rings and valve seals. Needless to say, I went back to i/h/e quick... don't have the time or money to mess with FI right now.

if you supercharge you have one advantage
smooth power delivery due to no lag.
A super charger also does not require you to idle the car after it has been driven to aide in the cooldown like a turbo car.
I prefer supercharger over turbo. I have driven both types of cars and I definately like the smoothness over the sudden spoolup of power.
You can intercool your S/C boost just like you can with a turbo. With honda 4s it is kinda hard to use a roots type unit and you are pretty much limited to a centrifugal(sp) unit. Roots type units are very popular with V type engines because you can plane then right on the intake and drive them from the accessory belt.
Down side is they are more parasitic than a turbo. and with a roots type unit it is not possible to cool the boost since it is right on the intake directly feeding the tb
I am looking at a 1998 accord V6 and I am definately gonna boost that car since it only takes about 5 hrs to do and it runs on all of the stock sensors/ fuel system

Re: (YeuEmMaiMai)
They don't make Superchargers for SOHC Accord motors. You'd have to swap in an H22A or another DOHC Vtec motor. I don't see why they don't make it for the Accord EX, since they make it for the Civic EX....

Thanks, plannin on my next motor bein DOHC anyways so that's cool. And I'm more concerned with torque(northern california resident), I drive a lot of twisting back roads. That's why I want a super charger instead of a turbo.

Re: (zigzack)
Even if you swap in an H22/H23 you still have clearance issues with the firewall and shock tower. I have seen it done, however. One option I was looking into for supercharging an F22 was mounting a SC in place of the Air conditioner. This also gives you room for an intercooler. Here's my links:
