Rear Main Oil Leak 06 Accord V6 EX 93,000 miles, common??
Honda dealer advised me it is uncommon, I am retired so most of my driving is local. I am really disappointed with the news, and pretty expensive to install a $20 seal, labor $1300., wow. Am I alone here?? Don't get me wrong, it took me a long time to be able to buy it new, and I do love it and take good care of it, and plan to keep for a long time. I just never expected to learn of the leak, what can I say...

Go on yelp and find a good quality mechanic with good reviews. Mention you found him on yelp so he will be sure to give you a good deal.

It is very uncommon for the rear main seals to leak on these engines, but what is very common is the oil pan gasket to leak. It is also very common for Technicians, or actually Lube technicians to mistake a rear main seal leak for an oil pan leak. Not to say they are wrong, but I would have it checked out again. It is very easy to tell whether the rear main seal leaks or not, there is an inspection cover with two 10mm bolts on it between the oil pan and the transmission bell housing, remove this cover and check for oil on the flex plate and where the rear main seal would be, because even if there is oil behind this cover, it could still be the oil pan gasket leaking above where the inspection cover is.
