Hey all,

I just changed a water pump and timing belt and tensioners (balance shaft and timing belt). After completed, I started it, and it was making a noticable rattle. I was watching the engine run, and noticed the alternator drive belt whipping around. Got a new belt, installed it tight (~.5 inch of play either way). Noise still remains. I tried the timing belt tensioning procedure again (the three teeth on the cam shaft thing), and still no luck. This is the first T-belt Ive changed (weekend warrior), so I probably did something stupid. I made damn sure I had all of the timing sprockets lined up at the TDC indicators. Followed the Haynes manual to a T. Any ideas or things to try? I REALLY don't want to remove the crankshaft pulley and timing covers again if I don't have to. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

where is the rattle coming from? take off all the acc belts and see if its goes away

Thanks, I'll try that. There's also some whining. Could this be just "new belt" sound or something?

most likely no what brand did you use for all the parts?
