Question re: '99 accord V6....tranny reliability & possibles swaps...
Hi. I need a 4 door for my growing family...looking at Accords (again).
Any one here w/a 98-2002 V6 Accord w/Auto tranny over 100K?? How realiable is the auto tranny w/100K+ miles?
I have had 2 older Accords w/over 200k but never an auto...a little weary of a high milage Auto tranny...even a Honda.
QUESTION #2: Is it possible to swappy in a manual to the V6 in the 98-02 accords?? Maybe from an Acura??
ANY INPUT IS APPRECIATED!!!!!!
THANKS!!!!!

The auto trannies in the 6th gen accord v6's is POOP. But there is good news.
You can do a tranny swap and go with a 6speed from a 2003 Acura 3.2CL Type-S. The swap has been done by a few people and I have only heard good things about it. Or if you want the 6 speed and a little performance, you could just do the whole motor/tranny swap from the 3.2CL-S.
Check out V6Performance.net and search around for the full parts list for the swap and pictures of the whole process.

Is it only the V6 6th gens? I'm approaching 88k on my 2001. I love my car but I hope nothing happens to it.

The 6th gen accord transmission is POOP .. and nothing short of it.
My 6th Gen 98 auto transmission broke 2 months after my warranty ended at 66K miles. Murphy's law? YES.
It's a good thing i bought myself extended warranty when i got the car... which got me a brand new transmission for free. I felt like the luckiest man on the planet that day.

There is not a c32 in an type-s it is a j32.
About the tranny swap in the accord. It is not an easy swap and it requires a lot of knowledge, money, time. If you really want something reliable above 100k miles then I would not get the av6 because of the tranny problems.
