Problem with Rear Brake Caliper Piston
I'm replacing all the brake pads on my 1999 EX and am having a problem compressing the rear brake caliper piston to accomodate the new pads. Typically, I use a C-clamp. I've already replaced the front pads with no problem, so I don't think its an issue with the overall system. The parking brake is not engaged. I've replaced brake pads a half dozen times on different vehicles, but never on the Accord.
I've tried opening up the bleed valve while applying pressure to the piston, in case the brake fluid was not returning to the reservoir. Fluid bleeds out, but no movement on the cyclinder. To check if the cylinder was jammed, I applied the brakes. The cylinder will move forward (so now I can't even get the old pads on), but will not retract. Any suggestions? I can include photos if that would be helpful.

Because the vehicle has rear discs which incorporate the ebrake function, you're up against the wall.
Basically, the piston is retracted back into the caliper via the screw (Yes, the piston is threaded) by which the ebrake operates.
Refer to your repair manual for the proceedure.
...You do have a manual, right?

Re: Problem with Rear Brake Caliper Piston (P_Adams)
Threaded, huh? Ouch. Thanks for the diagram! I bought the car used about a year ago and haven't had any issues, so I haven't bought the manual yet. I never would have imagined changing the pads would be so compliated. Since my car is inoperable, I'll have a tough time getting out to buy one.
I tried disconnecting the parking brake, which didn't help. I assume there's a special tool to that Honda sells for $$$ to solve the problem. Would using channel locks to turn the piston work? Otherwise, I guess I'll take apart and rebuild the caliper. I'd appreciate suggestions.
