Airbag replacement help
Hi! So a few days ago I was involved in a minor front end crash. The lady in front of me decided to slam on her brakes for a yellow light, not paying attention I slammed into the back of her. By the time I had hit her I was going maybe 8 mph (slowing from about 30-35), so very little front end damage, a couple things are tweaked, but you can't notice unless you really look at it. However, it set off the airbag. An auto repair company said they wanted $1900 or so to replace the airbag, computer, etc, etc. I went to a junk yard and bought a new stearing wheel and airbag for $50 instead. I disconnected the battery and installed the new airbag. Everything seems well now and even the SRS light turns off like it did before when the car is running. Does this mean its working properly and I don't need to replace the computer? Or am i driving with a time bomb in my face/dysfunctional airbag?
Thanks for any suggestions, let me know!
A new srs computer from a junk yard will also run me about $50 as far as I know.
The car is a 1993 honda accord ex, and there is only one airbag in the car (aka, driver airbag)
